• Notes

  1. The Gadneys caused some confusion until it was discovered that there we re two families whose progenitors were both from Oxford and born 8 years a part. Could they have been cousins? 2. He was a storekeeper at the Palmiet River (Grabouw area) in 1832 and al so owned Korteshoven from 1832 until 1836 although he lived on the sdjoini ng farm De Rus. (Overberg Odyssey.
