• Notes

  1. At the time of his marriage on the bride's parents farm, Rooipoor t, he was a trader at Agnes , Glen Grey. He later became a farmer and moved to the Elliot area in about 1882/3 whe re he purchased two farms. These had to be abondoned shortly afterwards d ue to disturbances in the area. His move to Queenstown resulted in seve re stock losses but in 1893 he returned to Elliot and purchased half of t he farm Clantire 2. He retired to Roseneath at Elliot and was buried in the cemetery there. 3. Estate MOOC 12228 R1350 where birth was in 1854 although SA Genealogi es and other sources give 1855
