  Lived at Malvern, Natal, Port Alfred and Potchefstroom. Went to St Andre ws College. Towards the end of 1915, enlisted in E.A.Transport Corps. Spe nt 3yrs under bad conditions, many others died of malaria. Spent a ye ar at the School of Art Grahamstown then returned to Kenya just before h is father's death. 1920 Farmed at Dunbryonne on the slopes of Mount Elgon until 1962. Lived in Spa in for a while then moved to Australia. He had a great interest in herald ry and worked with his brother Ivan who wrote the "Barbers of the Peak".
